Sheffield United’s unlikely survival bid continues when they host a Southampton side in shocking form on Saturday.
Saints have bombed down the standings to 14th place after picking up one point from the last nine league games, leaving them just seven points above the relegation zone.
The Blades look dead and buried, with a 12-point gap separating the Premier League’s bottom side from Newcastle in the safety of 17th place.
However, they earned a 1-0 win over Aston Villa last time out to end a four-match losing run and could fancy their chances against Ralph Hassenhutl’s side
Sheffield United’s own fight to retain their Premier League status is looking very difficult. The Blades sit 12 points away from 17th-placed Newcastle and are adrift at the bottom of the standings.
However, a vital win over Aston Villa on Wednesday evening will have given Chris Wilder and his players a huge boost ahead of facing Saints in two days’ time.
